Good morning tsuro, and thanks for registering your team, "Stratum 0", for the 2013 DEF CON Capture The Flag Qualifiers. We’ve got a few things to go over before the competition starts on June 15 at midnight, UTC.
Please make sure all your teammates have registered and joined your team. Registration will close at the start of the game. Your teammates will not be able to register after midnight UTC on June 15.
There will be five categories! "3dub", web-based challenges "0x41414141", exploitation "\xff\xe4\xcc", shellcode "OMGACM", guerilla programming "gnireenigne", reverse engineering
Twenty teams will be competing at the finals in Vegas. We have seven prequalified teams, so at least thirteen qualified teams will be qualified to compete in Las Vegas. If teams can’t make it, we’ll go farther down the quals scoreboard. Even if you don’t qualify, there’s lots of exciting competitions, talks, and events going on at DEF CON, and we hope to see you there whether you qualify or not.
During the competition, we’ll be hosting CTF chat in #defconctf on the "Hackint" network. See http://www.hackint.org/ for connection information. Any judgements or changes will also be broadcast on our Twitter account at https://twitter.com/legitbs_ctf, and displayed on the scoreboard as well.
Rules The game will start with one question unlocked and hot. When a question is unlocked for the first time, it’s hot. When a hot question is answered, it cools off, and the team that answered it gets to pick the next question to unlock.
All answers will be preceded by “The key is: “. If you see “The key is: asdf 12345” submit “asdf 12345” without the quotation marks. Keys are case sensitive.
There is no point penalty for wrong answers. However, excessive wrong guesses may be penalized with per-question or per-team timeouts. Since all answers will be clearly marked, we trust this won’t be a problem.
Don’t share answers.
All challenges will be hosted at *.shallweplayaga.me . Do not attack machines outside of this subdomain.
The scoreboard is at https://2013.legitbs.net and will be linked on your dashboard when the game starts. Do not attack machines inside of this subdomain.
All judges’ decisions during the game are final.
The game starts at midnight UTC on Saturday June 15. To see this in your time zone, visit http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20130615T00. The game will run for 48 hours, ending at midnight UTC on Monday, June 17. A countdown timer will be visible on the scoreboard. If you log in before the game starts, the scoreboard will be available to gawk at, but completely disabled.
Good luck, Legitimate Business Syndicate
